- I don't know if I can give you 5 reasons why it would be a good job. Basically for most consumer TVs the amount of time to fix them at a reasonable hourly wage would exceed the price of the television. That being said, there may be something for the higher end sets. If you are fixing the higher end sets, you may still be able to charge a wage which would allow you to make a living. The advantage with the higher end home theater repair/installation market is that you will be dealing with a higher end clientele - that is people who can afford to pay you. Most of these types of repair/service will be in the form of installation and setup of the devices related to home theater. There will still be little actual TV repair. But there will be some. The real trick here is to get an effective customer base from which you can draw a working wage. It isn't easy at first. Getting established is the hardest part. If you are working for yourself, you will undoubtedly be starting out part-time with another job until you build a sufficiently large customer base. If you are working for someone else, your only gauge will be the successfulness of your employer. It can be a fun and rewarding job.
