Television power goes off and on the first 5-10 minutes - Question for TV Repair Guy?

We have a Magnavox TV - 32" - about 3 years old. When we turn the TV on, the power light stay on, but no picture shows up for over 5 minutes. We hear the sound going in and out during that time. We are going to call a TV repair person out, but are wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this and how much it is to fix?

1. Does the picture come on slowly or comes on fast when it does come on? A slow picture coming on could be problems in the filament circuit, maybe bad solder connection on the main pc board or on the CRT socket. Possibly there is a bad connection in the horizontal or vertical circuits too causing the picture to stay off until the solder connection expands & makes the proper contact (about 5-10 min. later). I'm guessing this is a CRT (picture tube type). Should be able to get it fixed around $60-$80 range. If it's component failure, expect more money.
