Why does my Toshiba 42" LCD TV keep switching off when repair-shop says its just fine? I have recently moved into a new flat and my 42" Toshiba LCD, which was working fine in my old flat, keeps switching off after 2-3 seconds. I sent it to a Toshiba recognised repair shop and they told me the TV worked fine in their shop. Can this have something to do with the power supply of my flat (other appliances works fine), or is the repair guys simply lying to me?

How to repair cable connector of the CRT TV? I have a two-year-old CRT Toshiba TV, and very occasionally watched. Recently when I tried to move it, I forgot to unscrew the cable from the back panel of TV first. So the cable (antenna connector) was ripped off from the TV. I know it is definitely not worth sending it to repair shop. Can I do it on my own? Is it a very complicated fix? Is that connector connecting with other components or circuit inside? Appreciate for any suggestion.

How much will repair be on a TV? I'm looking at buying a 65" Toshiba projection TV, however, it has the rainbow effect in one corner. The owner says he has the "color guns" to repair it and I was wondering what the average cost of repair would be provided that I have the right parts. Also, I'm looking at an RCA 52" projection TV. If it breaks, what would the average cost be? A low-high price would be nice.

My toshiba tv just shuts off? I have a 10 year old toshiba TP50H95 projection. It will run for 20 minutes or sometimes two hours (or longer) then will turn off. The on/off light will flash until it's unplugged. The longer the tv is off the longer it will run before it shuts off. If we unplug it, it will turn right back on for a unknown period of time before turning off again. Is this a big problem for a tv repair man or can I fix it. I have fixed my own gas stove, gas dryer and washing machine so I can usually figure out what to do if I know where to look and determine how to fix it. Anyone have any tips.

What would be the rough repair cost, on a Toshiba 37" LCD TV? I was unplugging the Wii from the back of it, and nudged it off the stand accidentally. It hit the corner of the coffee table. There is no visible damage whilst its off, but once switched on, you can see the LCD part has smashed in the corner, and viewing is impossible. The TV was £550 new. I don't mind paying £200-300 to get it repaired if you think that's possible. I like the picture quality and sound, and that would still be cheaper than a new one. Thanks in advance.
Need help on whether to repair the tv I have or just get a new one? I have a RCA f36650. It is only four years old. The picture has compressed at the top and there is a good 4 inch black space at the bottom of the screen. I am looking at purchasing a Toshiba 47HL167 to replace it..maybe. I am just looking into if it would be cheaper to repair the RCA or just upgrade to the Toshiba.

TV repair and a few questions about plasmas, PLEASE HELP!? Ok so I'm thinking about buying this Toshiba 50 inch plasma TV, model 50hp95. The only problem with it is when you plug it in it won't turn on. I know it's never a good idea to buy a broken item, but they are only asking around $200 for it. Considering its's a $1200 Tv, I'd say anything shy of $1000 repair cost is still savings. I was wondering if anyone would hapen to know what might have caused the TV to stop working? Also, I play Xbox 360 alot (6 hours a day, I need a hobby), will this have the dreded "burn-in" effect on the TV? Thank you in advance and I will select best answer!

Color Convergence problem on old toshiba HD cinema series TV? Hi there, i recently got an HD cinema series TV (model tn50x81. On the television, it seems as though the blue lamp is not working properly. The blue image is distorted by about 10-15 cm above where it should be. Colour convergence does not seem to work, as it won't let the blue image go down to where it should be. I know this is an old TV, but i was wondering if it would be possible to repair it somehow, and was wondering how it would be possible to do so.

Toshiba rear projector TV just shows snow (but DOES show Video1 feed fine)? Model: Toshiba TP50G90 (50" rear projection tv) . This is an old model (1997), so I don't have much hope, but money is tight and I'd rather not have to purchase a new TV if I can repair this one for under a few hundred dollars. Basically...for the past few months,. the TV has been acting up where sometimes we'll turn it on and it would be extremely staticy (loud static noises and the screen would static out at the same time as the noise). Usually if we turned it off and back on it would be ok for the night. More recently, we'd turn it on, and it's just snow, but again turning it off and back on a few days seemed to get it working again. Now, it's just snow, and if you leave it on long enough the TV shuts itself off. I know it's not the cable because we brought down a small portable TV and plugged the cable into it and it works fine on the little TV. And, it won't show anything from the DVD/VCR. ** BUT ** I tested with my PS2, and on Video 1 it DOES show the game, crystal clear. It seems to be only the TV mode that doesn't work. Any ideas what is wrong? Can it be fixed? Thanks

I have a 36" TV Toshiba (36D2000) When i turned it on. the screen is green then shuts off? I have a 36" TV Toshiba (36D2000) When i turned it on.. the screen is color green then it fades into the center and shut off. I pressed the power for many times (turned it on.. turned it off)until the screen will become color gray (not green anymore). Then after that I can use my TV again and can watch it with my dvd but after 10 minutes, sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 4 hours, the screen will become green again and will shut down. So I need to press the power again and waiting for the screen to be gray again. What will I do about this? .. I asked the technician but he cant repair it. (he says that it has lots of parts maybe thousands of it and 7 boards) Can somebody help me?
Help with TV convergence? I bought a 52 inch toshiba TV off of craigslist last week. The lady told me that all I needed to do is use the remote and go to "menu" on the tv and line up the red yellow and blue crosses to get the TV converged right. I moved all of the crosses except the blue one. I can get it to go up, down, and right, but it won't move left...which is where I need it to move. I've called a few TV repair people and they all seem to think I need something replaced that will cost $350--which is more than I spent on the entire TV. I'm pretty sure nothing needs replaced, I just need to line these crosses up. Any ideas? I am NOT good with this kind of stuff...and I've had several friends try, but they can't get it either. Help please!!
Toshiba 52" tv with convergence issue? I have a 52" Toshiba that has a problem with a convergence amplifier problem-the ICs for the tv are 15-20.00 a peice on authorized parts dealers-can I fix this myself and save a couple hundred bucks? If I can how do I fix them? I have a soldering iron and solder I just don't know what to look for when I take the back cover off the tv. I assume that the bass from a movie I was watching caused the problem-the tv is about 7 yrs old but replacing the tv is too expensive for me. Sears said for 99.00 they will come to my place on tuesday and if I authorize the repair-the 99.00 goes towards the repair/labor cost but I have already been quoted 340-380 from another shop to come pick up the tv, keep for a week and repair then to return my tv fixed. Should I just let them fix it? This is a projection TV and uses a blue, green and yellow bulbs.

Why do I have moving verticale lines and buzzing on my tv when I play PS3? I have a 50" Toshiba projection TV and when I switch from normal TV to inputs, my PS3 game screen starts a mild buzzing along with a vertical line that keeps repeating itself. Can I fix this on my own? I doubt it is worth it to pay a repair tech $200 to fix an obsolete TV that is probably worth about $300.

TV Repair Question!?!? I have a 32 inch flat screen Toshiba from 2008. I live in tampa and think the lightning fried me. TV wont turn on. It flicks for a second and makes a spinning noise. What could be wrong with my 37 inch Toshiba HD TV? When I turn it on, the green indicator light turns on- indicating that the TV is on but there is no sound, picture, and the volume and channel menus don't work when I click them. It is a month over the year warranty so it will cost me $85 just to have an estimate given. I want to know if this problem normally warrants a repair or re-purchase. Thank you. I have tried all the troubleshooting guides and called Toshiba. The buttons on the TV and remote do nothing and I have inspected all of the plugs behind the TV. Thanks but I want to avoid getting it fixed if it is going to end up being something that will cost alot of money. So what do you think the issue with the TV is? Knowing what it might be, I can research the cost. Thanks though.
I have a Toshiba 28W93B model TV - some of the darks contain a lot of blue - any ideas-adjustments/repairs? Specifically, there is a blue tinge in the dark areas of some of the pictures - e.g. on a black and white sequence on a video it actually plays blue/grey and white. Toshiba Rear Projection tv stuck in 4:3 mode? I've a Toshiba 40H80 Rear projection tv, stuck in 4:3 mode - buttons on the set work for setting up some configuration, but won't fix this problem. You even see the little hand "move" to try (it registers that the hand is trying). I expect that there is some circuit board that has been fried. Can I access this? change it myself? anyone got a free repair manual? I have tried the reset (unplug overnight) - no improvement. Can't try thru the remote cuz my dog ate it...

Toshiba 42HP84 plasma TV has a dead spot. One inch wide strip from middle of top of screen to center. Help? We've had the tv about 2 years. The dead spot is one inch wide and about 10 inches long. It is about 15 inches in from the right side and drops vertically from the top of the screen to the middle. It happens on all inputs (hdmi, dvd, vcr). At first it was intermittent, but now it is permanent. Does anyone know what this is? The Toshiba help desk told me to turn it off and on to see if that fixed it (wow, what an original idea). A guy at Circuit City said I might need a new screen since the screens are one piece. Another guy said I might need a new circuit board in the tv. Both of these options sound expensive. I haven't yet had a repair person out to check it. If anyone knows a good tv guy in or near Huntington Beach, CA let me know. Thanks.

Warranty on Toshiba 32" Digital TV? My TV has been in the shop three different times for a total of 11 weeks. The repair techs claim they cannot hear the high pitched noise that emits from it. They have replaced the board among other things and it still emits this sound. Now Toshiba is telling me that it must be a problem with the elevation I live at. I guess they think I should move? I think it's ridiculous that I'm paying for a TV that has been out of my home this long and they are refusing to get me a replacement TV thus far. They thought it was the horizontal resonant coil but now they've decided they have no clue how to fix it. Any suggestions? I have had people tell me to get an attorney but that seems a little drastic. I long for the days for my old Magnavox!

We have unplugged the cable and everything and plugged back in and its the same. The tint still occurs when we play video games. We have tolerated so far, but now we want to watch a football game and cant tell the teams apart! Is there something we can do to fix it? Can I call a tv repair man to fix it? It is a big Huge screen TV. At the time it cost like 3k to buy. I hope repair doesnt cost more.
What can I do about slow progress in getting waranty work done? Companies like Best Buy, Toshiba, Conpaq, etc? I purchased a TV mid Oct and by thanksgiving it died. Because it was over 30 days old I had to deal with the waranty instead of exchanging it. I purchased it at Best Buy with the waranty for someone to come to my home. No one wants to come to my house because I live to far away. Toshiba (the brand of the TV I bought told me I would have some one at my house to repair the set so I would have the TV for the holidays. The technician refuse to come until Toshiba sends a work order to authorize the work and the mileage. It is now January 6 and I'm still waiting for some one to show up to my home. Who do I complain to and get results. Everyone claims they are doing their part but I'm still out a working TV.
Toshiba 36" Flat Tube TV humming when there is lots of white or light colors. any ideas? This TV is only 3 years old and recently when the screen has lots of white or very light colors on the screen its producing a very annoying high pitched hum. It doesn't matter what channel its on and the hum does not change pitch or loudness with the volume. It sounds as if it coming from the rear of the set. Most times the humming will quite down and sometimes even stop after the set has been on for over an hour. Its obviously not going to be a do it yourself repair but I'm just trying to get a guesstimate of what the problem may be and cost of repair then deciding if I just want to get a new TV. Thanks in advance
50 inch projection TV? I have a toshiba TP50G50 50 inch projection TV and it will not turn on, any suggestions on what to look for to repair it? My big screen TV flashes color changes randomly, usually red/green tint on entire picture - what's going on? I have a 4 year old 57" Toshiba big screen TV, we have a maintenance agreement and had (2) repair men come out and make minor adjustments on TV and state they fixed the problem. Shortly thereafter, TV begins to randomly flash color changes again - the entire screen will have a red or green tint, color lasts for 1-4 seconds then goes back to normal. Can this be fixed, is it expensive to fix and that's the reluctance for the service company to fix the problem? I can't make the color changes happen, TV does it randomly. Any help??? a little more info, no hitting on the side does not help/hurt the problem Vast majority of color changes occur while watching regular satellite TV, only once or twice while watching DVD's, problem becomming more frequent Picture remains on screen, you can see what's being broadcast, it's annoying that every once in a while your stuck with a momentary flash of a red or green screen
TV cannot be switched on.? Toshiba TV Model 2988UE. Normally, when the power is on, the red "Power" light at the bottom right of front panel would light up and with the remote control the TV could be switched on. However, recently when the power is on, the above mentioned red "Power" light lights up and continue blinking, and the TV cannot be switched on using the remote control as before. Why does the red "Power" light blinks? What does it signify? The Onwer's Manual does not describe anything about blinking red "Power" light. The remote control is working ok. Can someone help advise what's wrong and how to repair. Thank you.

I dropped my 12 in TV on the ground, and now the colors distorted? Can I fix it? About a year or so ago, I have a mini 12 in. Toshiba TV, I took on vacations or to friends houses, to play video games and watch TV almost at the same time, well... One day getting it in to my friends house, the tv dropped and hit the ground partially, because i got it before the screen could crack. Now I read a question on degaussing it, but I have a magnet and my friend kept it on my PC! I tried running the magnet through and I got rid of the distorted color. Anyways on the TV the right top hand corner is all distorted and I was wondering if I could do the same to fix it, or would I have to replace it, or repair it, or whatever. PLEASE HELP ME!

I need help on manual convergence for my toshiba rear projection? i know for a fact that that the crts are good. we moved this tv down in the basement and and the guns just all messed up. i tried the toshiba on screen convergence menu but it only gives it for the red and blue, and frankly it doesnt seem to be working for me. ive been manually at this thing for the last week. what i did is use a white screen and a black circle to try and match up the focus and colors together. the best that i got are an off center red and teal with no blur. can some one please help me in how i can merge these two together, maybe im doing something wrong but i would really like to fix it myself. the tv its self is in great condition, and it was a simple fix gone wrong. ps, i dont have a few hundred to pay a repair man to come and realign them... the image is crystal, its perfectly clear, and i realized about the green after i have moved it all over the place :-/
Reggiema's answr to Cory L isn't helping since I have same issue w/ a 10 year old tube toshiba. Other ideas?? Toshiba, 10 year old, Tube tv, has a Black screen with only sound and wonering if it is totaled...or if there is hope to have it repaired.
TV Remote works, TV picks up signal rarely.? I bought this toshiba, model 36A41, 36 in supertube TV in 2001. So the IR reciver is picking up intermittently. Mostly not. The original and tivo remote work about the same amount of the time. New batteries of course. I cleaned the outer lense cover and there are fine scratches on the cover. So, Is it worth replacing the IR receiver on the TV and hoping thats the fix or just get rid of the TV. I am repairing myself, but need the info to see if it's worth trying. thanks I definitly not that tv repair savey. Can I buy a whole part or do I need a serviceman. If so how much ???.
Get 8-year-old tube TV fixed or buy a new HD set? I've got an eight-year-old 32" Toshiba--a tube TV, not a flat-screen. Recently the picture has become intermittently jittery and twitchy. Some of the jitters are tiny, but then at other times it's more like a small earthquake. It can last for 10-20 minutes, but then go away for two or three hours before returning. It happens on every input, so it's not a loose cable. Hitting the side of the TV isn't very effective in stopping it, though it does seem to be a reliable way to induce the jittering when it's not happening already (useful I suppose if/when I need to show the problem to a repair guy). Don't know whether I should get it looked at and fixed (or how much that's likely to cost) or whether I should just take this opportunity to hop on the HD bandwagon. It's our primary TV, so it's not something we want to just live with. But at the same time, considering it works just fine for hours between fits of jittering, it seems nowhere near "broken" enough to just scrap it.
Can I sue toshiba? I bought a HDTV in january of 08. after about 3 months (in april) i noticed that there was a long line running horizantally about 3/4 the way across. I call toshiba and they said they would try to repair it and referred me to a repair shop. the part they needed was on backorder and it would take until June to get in. i called toshiba again and told them and they told me that they could send a replacement tv but they dont make my model anymore and they would send a different model. I asked if i had any other options and she told me no. So i agreed. the repair shop returned my tv, the REPLMNT tv came and they took my original one. as soon as i plug the REPLMNT up there was a vertical line running there the middle of the screen and its picture was horrible. i called toshiba complain asked for a better model. they refused. told me they would send me same one again/they sent it. then called later told me they had my orginal model in a warehouse and to refuse shipment on current one. i did when the delivery company called to set up a day to drop it off i told them toshiba told me to refuse it and to send it back to them.that was about 2 week ago.i called 2 days ago and told them i refused delivery. they didnt seem to know anything and told me to call back tomorrow during normal hrs and speak to the people handling my file. i called and got ahold of a guy named david. i asked him what the status was on my orginal model(from a warehouse)(not the broken one)he looked at my file and told me there was nothing new. ??? i told him that they told me to refuse shipment on the tv and they would send the warehouse tv to me. he put me on hold, got back on and said there was no new status and they would call me back when they get the info. i asked to speak to a supervisor and after about 45 min of being on hold he tells me he cant get in touch with him. i said i would call back and i did. i spoke to a lady this time and asked her the same question. she said the same. i asked again to speak w/ a super and she put me on hold. 30 min later she returns and tells me she spoke to the super and he said that there is no new news and that they would call me when there is.I told her that i would like to hear the super say that and i would also like to speak w/ him still. she told me to hold and shortly after they hung up.(im thinking:why would they tell me they have my orginal model tv in a warehouse and to refuse the 2 replacement tv and once that was done they would send it, and now they dont know whats going on?) Few Notes I wrote to the president after i spoke with a super about a better more reliable model who denied me and also said he couldnt give me a refund because i didnt buy the tv from toshiba(bought from qvc) the replacement model (2008 42in hdtv) is of worst quality then my original (40in hdtv) What should i do? Thanks
