Approximate cost to repair Projection TV? We have a Phillips Magnavox Projection TV (approx 2001) in need of repair before we unload it. Picture looks fuzzy and 'white'. We've attempted to adjust color, sharpness and brightness without results. Just trying to determine an approximate cost for repair and if its worth selling or just dumping.
Anyone know what's wrong with my phillips 27" CRT Television, TV? So my tv was working fine for about 2 years then out of no where the power doesn't work. I've hit the power button on both the remote and on the TV and nothing happens. no lights or flickers or nothing. Is this a common problem? flashing red light on Phillips tv? I have a tv that is 7 years old but has basically only been used for a year. When I turn it on, I hear it try to turn on but no picture or sound and eventually shuts back off. I took it to a repair place who couldn't find the problem and when they plugged it in again it worked fine. Got it home and it worked ok until my daughter tried to plug in the karoake machine. Now back to the same flashing red light and no pic or sound. Ideas?
any tv repair shops close? is there any tv repair shops close to the 52632 area code that wont cost me an arm and a leg or butt cheek to fix my tv? Its only 2 years old. 36"phillips some one please help!! serious answers only..
I bought a faulty phillips plasma tv and now it's broken. What should i do? It costed 2000 something at the time that we bought it. When we first turned it on we realized it was making weird noises but we ignored it, now it doesn't even turn on. It's already out of warranty. We researched it online and bunches of people who bought the same model have this problem too. It costs 700 dollars to repair and we would just throw it away and buy a new one but my dad doesn't want it to end right there. He wants to take some action against this company because we called and complained and wrote letters but they won't respond. It's not fair for all those hundreds of people who bought this company's plasmas. Now...it only costs just over 1000 dollars. What should we do?? *and im not giving it to pbcurtis....sorry. ;) wait...why do you want it? didn't i mention that it doesn't work??? thanks for all of your advice...I really appreciate it.
TV REPAIR QUESTION??? REAR PROJECTION TV KEEPS TURNING ITSELF ON AND OFF OVER AND OVER UNTIL I UNPLUG IT? I own a Phillips 52 inch rear projection tv that every time I turn the tv on and watch it no matter how long once I turn it off it is messed up. After it is off from watching and I turn it back on you hear it click on and after 2 seconds it turns itself off and after 2 seconds of being off it turns itself back on and it does that over and over until I unplug it for 30 mins then It will turn on and stay on but once I turn it off it does it all over again. IF you have any Idea why this is happening please let me know. Thanks Josh
How can I fix my TV before the THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY arrives? I'm in trouble! My Phillips big screen TV decided to begin giving me a 3D or somewhat doubling effect. I cannot afford a repair this close to the holiday and with gas prices. Can someone please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The volume and everything else seems fine.
My 60" Phillips Magnavox TV is blurry and bright. What's the fix? I've heard it may be somthing to do with coolant containers needing the coolant changed. If so, where can I obtain the proper coolant and is this something that I would want to take on myself or is it better left to a professional. Lastly, what would be the cost for a repair like this?
"Can an 8year old Phillips-Magnavox big screen have repairs done to correct color problems? Our big screen tv is about 8-9 years old. It has been slowly deteriorating in color quality and clarity. I don't know whether tv repairs can be done on a larger, older tv and if so, what do you think could be wrong with it? I don't want to be ripped off by repairmen just wanting to charge me a pick up and exam fee just to tell me the tv is shot or it will cost me $500.00 to fix! Thanks!
62" Phillips LCOS projection TV; intermittent color problem. Should I fix&sell or Sell as Is? to who/where? I have replaced the bulb recently. the problem is that intermittently it seems that one color goes missing for awhile. i.e. the screen appears generally more purple or green than it should be, then corrects later. sometimes there is a band of green or purple on the screen. I could get a phillips person to come here and fix for more money or could take it to a shop (it's BIG and hard to transport) to fix. My fear is that such a problem might involve the main "light engine" or some primary circuit board. I don't know whether it would be $200 to fix a minor problem or $800 to fix a more likely major problem. Dilemma is that although the TV was worth $2K-$3K+ when purchased that intrinsic new value now may be closer to twice the value of fixing it for $800 and i feel that used equipment is worth half new. i.e. if it costs $800 to fix it, i might be lucky to sell for $800 and would not be worth fixing. If I take it in and price is as such then i still pay $100 or more to look at it and it would be likely just a waste of money. don't know how likely it would be fixable for only around $200 which would be worthwhile. from calling repair shops, they seem unfamiliar with such a problem (lcos is not a popular technology, mostly people use DLP now) I had taken it apart and looked at it, and saw what appeared to be a spinning part that had some wobbliness (vibration/buzzing of spinning part with flat edges) during the problem. service people on the phone say LCOS has no moving parts aside from fans. This is not visibly the case as it appears this moving part is within the outer part of light engine. so i don't know if these people don't know anything about the technology, but it would seem likely that although the part is small, with such things a replacement of the whole "light engine" may be neccesary if they don't really know what they're doing to begin with, and i believe that may be a $700 part. So although I think i see a problem moving part, i can only guess that due to phillips lcos discontinued status, local service center inexperience with the product, and location of the specific part that it may cost $800 to fix. So would it be better to sell a mostly working TV to someone who intermittent problem does not bother? through where... ebay local or craigs list or newspaper?, sell it to a pawn shop as-is? or try my luck at getting it fixed by taking it in and hoping it'll be cheap, maybe letting them keep it if it will cost over a certain amount to fix? would be nice to sell it to a tv repairman or maybe someone here knows the technology and knows of a spinning square part apparently not a fan blade, (lcos is not supposed to have a color wheel like dlp nor a spinning mirror i think) and thus would be able to give repair advice. otherwise the advice i seek is what to do with a TV that is only partially broken where expense to fix is unknown but likely high as local repair shops are unfamiliar with the technology.
Tv repair? My 32' Phillips flat screen has lost it color. The picture has also gotten darker. Is this repairable? if you arent helpful dont bother to respond
4 year old Phillips CRT TV refuses to turn on? I have had this TV since November 2003 and never had a single problem with it, and I always took good care of it, keeping it plugged into surge protector at all times, now about a week ago it just stopped turning on. Its as if it wasn't plugged in but I've tried every plug in the room and it wont work. My question is, do TV's have fuses that could of blown, or possibly a power supply that I could replace myself (I am a poor college student I can't really afford another TV, or to get this repaired professionally). If anyone knows what's wrong or how to fix it I really could use the help. Thanks!

TV broke..buy new one? I have a 3 year old 68cm phillips TV. The other night I fell asleep in front of it and when I woke up the TV was as dead as a dodo...not even a standby light. Cant seem to get it working, should I pay for repairs or buy a new one?
How much is a true price when fixing a circuit on my 60 inch 4:3 Phillip's HDTV? I have a 60" Projection HDTV that has a great look but it does need repair. A circuit that helps control convergence is not functioning properly and needs to be replaced. The result of this is a pincushion effect at the top and bottom of the screen, as well as a convergence mismatch at the corners and middle top/bottom. I have called a TV repair shop and they said it would be about $200 with labor to get it repaired and back to looking the way it was when it was new. This barely has any effect on an HD image, and is really only prominent when playing video games through a standard AV connetion.
Sound is out on tv...? Please help. I have an HDTV (Phillips) ad it's only about 2 years old. The sound just went out and was out for about 30 min. and then it spontaneously came back on. It's not remote or mute related (remote was on other side of room and it wasn't programmed to sleep or anything). When the sound came back on it made a "pop" sound but it seems fine now. It's not channel related either, it was silent on all channels. Any advice? Anyone ever have the tv repaired for just sound? Is it worth it or should I just get a new one (the warranty has expired, of course). Please help as I'm not sure what to do. Thanks! It's not cable or dish, it's just with a regular outdoor antennae. I tried all the inputs and they seemed fine. Actually, the tv has been fine all day today but I'm sure it was just the tv speaker that went out but then popped back on. I've never had this happen before.
Is my 52 inch Philips flat screen tv ruined? I have a 52 in Phillips flat screen tv that was left out in varying weather conditions with no shelter from it. When you turn it on the screen is full of vibrant patterns. The screen no changeing from this when the channel is changed. There is however one channel out of 9 that plays clear sound put no picture. Is this ruined? Can I just replace the screen? the outside of the tv has no harm (cracks, dents, etc). I have no warranty but am pretty skilled at electronics repair. Any ideas? Serious answers only please. Thank you!

I have a Phillips LS2300 i need to change the motherboard to one that can take the x600pro and xtras any ideas My processor burnt out also and i would like to find the same motherboard so i can replace the processor and fit everything back in to the tower. The computer has a video card and ethernet, bluetooth and tv card and is a Pentium 4. It came with a Ati Radeon X600 Pro Graphic card and although i do not want to upgrade i want a motherboard that takes all the extras without me losing out on anything. I do not know enough about computers to get the answers but would like some directions to the required motherboard. N.B. i do not know the model number of the motherboard that has burnt out as a computer shop i went to for repair removed it and replaced it with one that would not take the Graphics card i had already. I can't what i could gaming wise and are having no luck with shop. Sorry so long but looking for a solution. I was told by the shop that the motherboard was also toast and ok'd the change not knowing of the other changes made. The new motherboard is a MS-6579 which does not allow room for the grahic card which was removed. If the original is still for sale ok but if not is there an update which is suitable.
TV went out...what should I do? I have a 37" Phillips Magnavox that's about 8 years old, and it just blew out the other day. When it first went it smelled like something was burning. Now when I plug it in it makes a clicking sound and won't turn on. I'm going to take it to a recyling center tomorrow. Should I try a repair shop first? Will it be worth it? I don't want to spend too much to get it fixed. Please only reply if you know something about tv's.
Magnavox TV problems.? I own a flat screen tube TV. It goes up to 1080i and it is a Magnavox. It is having problems now after a couple years. I will attempt to turn it on and the green LED light will turn on and I will wait. After a few seconds I can hear the tube shut off. The image never appears. I tried waiting to turn the cable box on until I turned the TV on hoping that a sudden input of video would cause the TV to be forced to turn on. It seemed to work for a while but not even that will work. Other people have had problems with their "Phillips Magnavox" where they needed to replace a 10 ohm 1/3 watt resistor with a 10 ohm 1/2 watt one. Those people had a problem with a white screen with lines appearing. Could this also help me? A certified repair man's help would be best. Thank you.
Do most projection tvs just the same coolant? I have a Phillips PTV915 that I believe needs coolant (has had a whitish glow for a long long time now) so I believe I need to get coolant for it. Should I look for a particular kind of coolant for that model or do most projection tvs use the same coolant. Also other than online, what type of stores generally carry those types of things, can i got to a Lowes or Home Depot, BestBuy or some type of tv repair place...Thank you!
How can my XBOX 360 be fixed without sending it in for repair.? I'll explain in full detail what happened. I was playing a game and suddenly the picture became a shade of purple and block-like. (I have the 6 prong HDTV hookups for my television) I turned the console off and restarted it, and did not get any output from the console. I purchased two HDMI cables, a Phillips brand and Microsoft's for the 360, and plugged them in to the HDMI ports, and still didn't get any output. I also bought another HDTV cable set and didn't get any picture or audio. I tried plugging the console into two other tv's in the house, one got audio for a minute but no picture, the other had the same issue as the first TV. Is there anyway that this can be resolved without sending it in?
No sound for ONE television channel? I have read many of the other posts and they seem to address missing sound for ALL channels. I have a 7 year old no frills Phillips. I recently noticed that the sound on ONLY ONE CHANNEL was fuzzy, then it went to white noise and now no sound at all. I have basic cable no box or anything so no sound settings except the few on the actual tv which I have not changed. Any ideas? I really hate to spend $$ to have a 7 year old tv repaired....
How Does Best Buy Performance Plan Replacement Policy Work? I bought a flat screen LCD TV from Best Buy about 17 months ago with the Performance Plan and within the past 3 months had a problem with it. Best Buy sent a repair man and he couldnt fix it, the part is too expensive so Best Buy approved a replacement TV. I have to bring the TV, remote, receipt, and a confimation number to any Best Buy store for a replacement. What will this replacement be? The TV is a Phillips 42" 1080P LCD and I am not sure Phillips makes TV's anymore (if they do, not my model). Will it be of equal monitary value? Or same specs? I am wondering if anyne has had a similar situation. Thank you Also am I allowed to kick in more for an upgrade? I did call the "Geek Squad" number they gave me, but they wouldnt really answer these questions too well. They deferred everything to the store location.
What is the best television brand? Okay, I bought a 36" Phillips brand television about 3 years ago. I believe its a regular plain jane television, no HDTV or anything like that. I paid about $500 for it at the time. I absolutely love the tv, beautiful picture, nice screen size, everything. Well back in February it started going nuts on me, supposedly the mother board was fried and I paid about $200 to have it repaired. Again my beloved television was returned to its youthful state. Thursday evening I went in to watch some tv after work and the darn thing won't turn on. You can hear some sort of whining noise, it is very faint, and I almost thought it was just my ceiling fan instead of the tv, but it stopped as soon as I unplugged the television, and then started again as soon as I plugged it in to another outlet. I don't want to pay to have this television repaired again and think its about time for a new one. Please tell me what is the best brand to go with at a reasonable cost.
Philips projection fluid change? I have a 50" Phillips magnavox 9p5034c102. Made Jan 2000. A friend gave it to me. Everything worked but the picture was lousy. I took it to a repair shop. They say it will cost $360 (including estimate) to change the cloudy fluid which will fix the picture. Is it worth fixing? I cannot buy something nearly as big for $360. I do not really care about HD. But, if it is not going to last much longer it would not be worth it. How long can I expect this TV to last?
TV repair question, TV VHS combo? I have a phillips tv vcr combo 13 inch i believe. the vcr keeps saying eject and it shorts out the whole tv and it shuts off. is there a way i can disconnect the vcr power and just use the tv? or will it not work this way? if i can does anyone know where i can get a diagram of the power cords on the motherboard. thanks.
